Educational Tests
The Educational Testing Service (ETS)	The Educational Testing Service is the organization that administers all standardized tests such as the SAT, the ACT, the MCAT, the GRE, and other college-entrance examinations for colleges and universities in the United States. Universities and colleges use the scores on these exams to screen applicants, so it is very important to score high on them if you are applying for entrance. The ETS site gives testing information, as well as provides sample tests. There are sample tests available from the following sites as well: The Advanced Placement Program (AP) which allows high-school students to gain college credit while still in high school. The Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) . The GMAT is the standardized test used for applicants to an MBA (Masters of Business Administration) program. The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) . The GRE is the main test used by applicants to unspecialized graduate programs (i.e., anything other than medical, legal, or business schools). The Law School Admission Test (LSAT). This site lets you order materials for preparation for taking the LSAT. The Praxis Tests. The Praxis tests are a series of tests administered by ETS that evaluate teachers striving towards certification. You can download a sample set of tests from this site. Requires Adobe Acrobat Reader to use. The Test of English as a Foreign Language . The TOEFL is the premier testing instrument used by graduate / undergraduate collegiate programs in the U.S. to test proficiency in the English language for international students. The Scholastic Aptitude Test . The SAT is one of the two most widely-used college board exams accepted at American colleges and universities.
Financial Tests
The Investing Personality Quiz	Prudential Securities has a test to determine your investment behavior based upon your personality type. From this test, they can help you determine what saving/investing strategy may work best for you.
Political Tests
The Libertarian Purity Test	This test appears to be a better indicator of whether one follows a Libertarian political philosophy. However, since I'm not that familiar with the Libertarian party (I've already pulled one boner!) I ask my Libertarian guests to take this test and let me know for sure.
The Political Matchmaker Test	A new political test. This one recommends a political party for you on the basis of your responses to the question, "If I were in charge, I would..." Sound intriguing?
World's Smallest Political Quiz	This test has been out on the 'web for some time, and I'm surprised I overlooked adding it long ago. It measures you degree of "leftness" or "rightness" in your political viewpoint. Upon taking it, I found out that I am a "Libertarian". (P.S. According to some of my Libertarian guests here, this test is NOT a truly accurate measure of one's political inclination.)
Self-Help Tests
Are You a Good Sports Parent?	Do you help your child when s/he is on the field or in a sport, or do you unknowingly hinder their progress with well-meaning but subtle undermining words and actions? Find out at this test instrument, available through MSNBC.
The Gambling Test	This is a serious questionnaire developed by Gamblers Anonymous to help determine if you may have a gambling problem. This test is currently resident at MSNBC Dateline, but may disappear. If the link goes down, a text-based alternative to the interactive version exists at Gambler's Anonymous.
The Goldberg Depression Questionnaire	This test is an online survey to help determine if you are "clinically depressed." Although it is not used to make an accurate diagnosis, it may indicate that you have a problem with depression, and if you need to seek help. Another good resource is the Online Depression Screening Test, based on the Goldberg Depression Scale. This one is also online and interactive.
The Goldberg Mania Questionnaire.	Similar to the Goldberg Depression Test, this is an online test to determine if you have many of the symptoms associated with "clinical mania." Again, this should not be used as a diagnosis, but as a warning sign to seek further information and/or help.
The Longevity Game	Find out how long is your life expectancy based upon current behaviors and lifestyles. This test is based on actuarial statistics such as those used by the life insurance companies. According to it, I'm supposed to live to age 79. I got a way to go yet! (Needs Java-capable browser to work).
RealAge	Based on your current lifestyle and health, this site calculates your "Real Age", which may be older or younger than your chronological age. It also has several resources and links on how to reduce your "Real Age".
What's Keeping You Awake?	Have you ever had trouble sleeping at night? It's estimated that most Americans do not get anywhere near the 8 hours a night of sleep that experts recommend. Millions of us are kept awake by a wide variety of sleep disorders and syndromes. The following quiz will help you assess whether you have a clinically diagnosable problem getting the sleep you need.
